Ancestor's and American Beach near Amelia Island in Florida
Costal Ocean, commonly defined as the areas from the shoreline to the outer edge of the continental margin, connecting the continents to the open ocean, serving as a link for transporting organic and inorganic, natural and anthropogenic material from land to sea.
In 1807, Importation of new blacks were outlawed, after a law was passed by Thomas Jefferson.
New England families that partook in the prisoner of war dynamic of the black people, re-registered their ships under the Spanish flag, bringing their cargo headed to the states in America to Fernandina in Florida, where they warehoused the black people until being smuggled to Georgia, across the boarder.
Because of the severe penalty of being caught violating the smuggling laws, many blacks were tossed overboard, where later some of the bodies would wash up on the shores of the beach in chains.
The Beach Lady, featured in the first video, was a truly remarkable and insightful person, who is now joined energies with the ancestors, she is buried in one of the top dune's, which she named Nana which is a word used in Ghana as the title of a monarch to signify their status.
In 1935 a black man by the name of Abraham Lincoln Lewis, a prominent, successful and president of the Afro-American Life Insurance Company, and six other's established the American beach community so his employees could have a place to go and enjoy themselves with their families and each other without being harassed. During that era of segregation and Jim Crow, blacks were not allowed on public beaches. This beach was exclusive and a renowned beach for blacks. In 2002 American Beach was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

A hidden gem at American Beach is "Martha's Hideaway", hidden deep in the woods at the end of Ervin Street, one of the first private homes built in the development of American Beach. The Colonial Revival house built for local African-American business owner and community activist by the name of Martha Hippard. The house had a detached separate party house, some say was a gambling house, some say it hosted dances, club parties and other civic and social activities. The houses are constructed of HAND-MADE concrete blocks from truckloads of crushed coquina shells hauled from American Beach and HAND-MOLDED bricks manufactured on the premises, which were used to build this lovely structure on nearly an acre of land, larger than any other parcel in the area at the time of constructing it.

At the age of 13 Harriet began experiencing visions and vivid dreams that she believed were revelations from God. In 1863, she led an armed raid that freed 700 blacks in South Carolina, the first woman to lead in a military expedition. She advocated for education, etc. and was called "General Tubman" by her admirers.

Because of pirating and port inspections, some newly arrived cargo of African people were thrown overboard into the Atlantic, their bodies washing up days later on the coast of Florida in what is known as American Beach, a whisper of history. "What is harder to corroborate is the willful murder of captive Africans by drowning in the name of avoiding detection, followed by insurance claims for lost property."
